How to Register
2024 SEUUMA Spring Gathering
April 1 - 4, 2024
The annual spring retreat for members of SEUUMA will include 6 hours of ministerial development time led by Rev. Jake Morrill (see below to learn more about Jake and the exciting workshop he's planning). Please join us as we continue to develop as ministers and leaders, have our annual meeting and elect new officers, and reinvigorate our spirits with dear friends and colleagues.

"Living and Leading in Harmony with Life."
How does thinking about flocks of birds help one in ministry? How does reflecting on one's own distinctive place in the world clarify one's call? In an age of outrage and overwhelm, when endless emails and tasks and demands on a minister's time can flood one's senses, this retreat is an invitation to reflect and re-orient toward a wider view of oneself and one's ministry, as part of creation. In 3 two-hour interactive sessions (with time for reflection, small-group huddles, and lively whole-group discussion), attendees will clarify an understanding of three things: emergent, collective behavior in nature; the implications of such behavior on ministry leadership and relationships; and the implications for one's own individual and unique ministry.
Guest Speaker
Rev. Jake Morrill grew up at Tennessee Valley UU Church and served the Oak Ridge UU Church as Lead MInister for 19 years. A long-time student of Bowen Family Systems Theory, he is on the Faculty of the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, where he researches and teaches on the application of systems thinking to organizational leadership. Jake has published five books, the last of which was on the topic of boundaries, at work and at home. These days, Jake's work is leadership coaching and consulting with family-owned businesses, and he continues to do some clergy coaching and congregational consulting, as he can. His website is www.gentogenleadership.com.
