Aaron Shearer’s two greatest passions were guitar and hiking which we celebrate yearly at our Shearer Summer Institute. Join us this summer for our 6th annual Institute held at the beautiful Mountain Retreat and Learning Center in North Carolina.
About 6th Annual Aaron Shearer Summer Institute
Join us for a nature-inspired week of classical guitar study and music making! . Each day offers hiking opportunities along with guitar activities such as: • group classes—performance development, beginning to advanced technique, guitar harmony, gutiar rhythm, composing and arranging, etc.
THIS WORKSHOP WILL INCLUDE:

artist and student performances and informal "coffehouse" sharings :All levels and ages are welcome but to participate in ensembles you must read music on the guitar.

The Aaron Shearer Foundation (ASF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to perpetuate and enhance Shearer’s legacy of classical guitar pedagogy. As one of the most successful guitar pedagogues in history, Aaron Shearer was instrumental in the development of many of the celebrated classical guitar performers of the past decades in the United States. Their level of musical and virtuosic performance has contributed to raising the image of the guitar in the classical music world. It is our desire that the keys that led to this success be shared as widely as possible with those musically inclined devotees who are attracted by the charms and subtleties of the classical guitar.
