Emilio Perez-Jorge

I was born in Valencia, Spain and moved to the USA in 1996 following my dream to work as a physician here. I became an Infectious Diseases specialist and I have been practicing medicine for 30 years. Along the way, I have been blessed with a wonderful family, my wife Nancie and my children Santiago and Mercedes. We love history and travel, playing tennis together, and exploring the mountains and the outdoors.

I have been to The Mountain many times, with our family, during our church retreats, for work weeks and as a parent advisor for CONs. I love the spirituality, sense of community and wonder that I enjoy every time I am at The Mountain, and I want to make sure this special place is accessible so others can get the same experience. I am a member of the Mountain Committee in my congregation, the UUCC in Columbia, SC, and one of our goals is to have scholarships every year so people of all ages and financial backgrounds can afford to attend.

In view of our current political climate, I would like to see the Mountain develop or maintain already implemented DEI policies and have programs that allow for those that may feel discriminated against or excluded to have a safe place to meet. I would also like to expand programs directed to families, so people of all ages can enjoy what The Mountain has to offer together.
