Winter Awakening

"The ties that bind us"

January 28 - 30, 2022

Join us for our 13th year of sobriety and recovery!

Winter Awakening is an annual retreat where LGBTQIA+ and our allies in recovery can come together to examine and explore their recovery and spirituality in an atmosphere of mutual support. Workshops, activities, and fellowship are based on the Eleventh Step of traditional 12-Step Programs like AA or NA (although Winter Awakening is not held under the auspices of either).

The theme of the "The ties that bind us" comes from the opening of the 12 Traditions of Narcotics Anonymous:

"We keep what we have only with vigilance, and just as freedom for the individual comes from the Twelve Steps, so freedom for the group springs from our traditions.  As long as the ties that bind us together are stronger than those that would tear us apart, all will be well."

Once again, our retreat will be held at the amazing Mountain Retreat and Learning Center. So wrap yourselves in scarves & join us at this beautiful location on 4,200 foot high granite cliffs on the Eastern Continental Divide in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

With its incredible accommodations a cozy & inviting lodge, and breathtaking views, you’ll find it easy to relax & enjoy the peaceful winter scenery.

Participants will dine together in the large cafeteria, enjoying freshly prepared meals by a fully staffed kitchen, with vegetarian options always available. And The Mountain offers plenty of warm and inviting meeting spaces to facilitate our connectedness and spiritual exploration.
