SEUUMA - Spring 2021 Retreat

Spring Retreat Focus:

“Playful Leadership”

A Family-Friendly Long Weekend

April 8-11, 2021 (Thursday - Sunday)

Ministers and their families from around the Southeast Chapter of the UUMA are invited to return to The Mountain for a weekend of learning, fun, and connection.

We encourage you to plan this as a family getaway, as well as a retreat with colleagues.

COVID safety protocols will be used— more details to be provided.

Portions of the program and chapter meeting will be live-streamed on ZOOM.  Please register here if you plan to join us remotely—there is no charge for that.

Jake Morrill will offer a program entitled, "Playful Leadership”:

Amidst the demands and stressors of ministry, it can be easy to absorb the stress of others and find yourself cornered. Given the world as it is, and ministry as it is, how can a minister remain clear, nimble, and effective in leadership? One approach is "playful leadership." Playfulness isn't silliness or triviality. It's an approach to leadership that encourages responsiveness, creativity, and an experimental, learning stance in the face of challenge. These workshops, rooted in family systems thinking, will invite attendees to play, to reflect, and to get clear on their own strengths and authentic style, to sustain important relational, missional work for the long-haul.

Jake Morrill has served as Lead Minister of the Oak Ridge UU Church since 2003. A former Chaplain in the Army Reserves, and current Executive Director of the UU Christian Fellowship, Jake is also a licensed marital and family therapist, specializing in leadership coaching with clergy and non-profit directors. A long-time student of Bowen Family Systems Thinking, he's on the faculty of the Bowen Theory Education Center and continues to learn and coach through the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family.
