About the Event


Wild Plant & Mushroom Identification Workshops - Approx 2 hours of lecture, discussion, and brief walk-about. 

What to bring: water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, dress for the weather, knife (optional), basket and paper bags (optional)

What to expect: In this workshop we will first discuss the several of the most common edible and medicinal wild plant and mushrooms found in this bioregion and how to identify them. Participants will learn how to collect spore prints, examine mushroom anatomy, assess habitat, and utilize organoleptic cues. All participants will receive a summary handout with identification tips, large color pictures, recipes, and information about any possible look-alike species. The other half of the workshop will involve walking into the forest to collect and identify species in-situ.

Rain Policy:

All of our events have indoor rain plans as backups in case of adverse weather. Please dress accordingly and bring rain gear if the forecast looks to be really wet!

If you must cancel your reservation to one of our events then please let us know, at the latest, 48 hours before the scheduled time. If an unexpected emergency occurs then please let us know ASAP. For both options we can offer you the opportunity to attend a future event or receive your money back.
